Some of us don't think they want to be parents. That's what I am thinking, too. I do not want to be a mother. Or should I maybe add "not yet?" Well, today I once again had the special opportunity to spend the afternoon with one of my very best friends and his adorable baby daughter. It was a time to cherish. He, like many others before him probably, told me that he never understood why parents would say "It's a lot of work to be there for your baby 24/7, but when he or she smiles at you, you forget about all your efforts because that one little smile pays off for all the work." Now, he said, he totally understands what they meant because he feels just the same way when his baby girl smiles at him. To be honest, I don't know if this is true or not, but I can imagine it could be true. For my part, being with his baby daughter totally makes me forget the world around me, and this makes me feel really good. I am thinking about what others may think way too much. But being with that cutest little girl makes me totally focus on her and on her well-being. It makes me focus on whether she is happy or hungry or thirsty or if she wants to play or needs some little joky jokes to cheer her up. It makes me focus on the essentials of life, and not on all the other circumstances that make life so complicated. Being with this little girl stops my world from turning around me and focusing on my problems. It helps me to come back to earth and to be a normal human being. Who else can give this back to you for if it wasn't a child?
Maybe I am not ready to be a mother yet, maybe I never will be a mother. But one thing is for sure: children make you see the world from another perspective. From a very normal, very human, very beautiful perspective. Thanks be to the children.
Enjoy your night!
